I think the reason I enjoy Ghibli so much is it romanticizes the little things. It makes me want to bake, study, clean the house, garden, and more while listening to happy music and occasionally picking wildflowers and lying in the grass. It helps me find joy in day-to-day life and that’s honestly sooo important for my mental health.
We don’t need straight pride because the first large lgbt gathering/event that I went to WASN’T a pride celebration but a mass vigil being held for the 49 innocent people slaughtered by a homophobic mass murderer.
The most memorable moment of that day was in the few minutes after a light rain shower during the vigil. Suddenly the crowd started cheering, applauding and everything just out of the blue.
It was a rainbow. A full rainbow over the vigil at the lake.
There was just something so beautiful and ethereal about that moment I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully describe it. It was like God or the Universe or whatever was telling us that eventually, everything will be okay.
